About me

I am the code mistry

Mistry is a hindi term for a master-craftsman

About me

I realized I loved to code while building my first robot. I wrote about 200 lines of code in embedded C to help my robot find its way out of a maze. But, I truly started exploring the world of software development when I started utilizing this amazing resource called the Internet! I was fascinated and still am, by what people have achieved by just writing a few lines of code in their computer - I mean, just add 7 lines of code and you are good to handle payments in your website!
So, I am now in the pursuit of the art of software development and the traveller in me keeps motivating to push the boundaries, to venture outside my comfort zone and to continuously learn and grow in the process.

Work ethic

The single most important reason for my success at work or at school.
From getting promoted within a year with the highest rating in Accenture to receiving muiltple rewards and recognitions at Sapient to graduating with distinction in a completely different education system in a country 11000kms away from my home.

Self-motivated learner

One of the things that I realized and liked about software development is that there is always an opporunity to learn something new. Its challenging, but that's what makes it fun. The University has merely provided me with the tools to open the first few doors but it's up to me to explore whats beyond those doors and even discover new doors to open.

Communication and collaboration

I have successfully collaborated with teams working in different time zones and with people I have never met. The key, I believe, is the skill to not only effectively communicate our thoughts, assumptions and opinions to the listener but also to carefully listen and understand what someone else has to say.

Responsive HTML/CSS using SASS

Inspired by the work of many talented designers and web developers, I finally decided to create a responsive protfolio website and create a personal brand. This is still in its early phase and I plan to add more pages such as a blog page where I want to share things that I have learned about technology, travel, photography and personal growth. Also, the website is not completely responsive yet as the I have not yet made all the images in the page responsive. I also want to use this page to experiment with various HTML and CSS features to improve the design and experience.

Express & Vue

This is a crowd funding website I built as part of my course work at UC and my first proper introduction to asynchronous JavaScript and basic HTML/CSS. I used Express for the backend, MySQL for database and Vue for the front-end. This project is special because I learned so much from the whole experience - from understanding why JavaScript acts the way it acts to understanding the difference between 'display: inline-block' and 'display: block'. And so, I entered the world of full stack web development.

GraphQL, apollo-yoga & react

I started this project with the objective of exploring and learning two web technologies - GraphQL and React. Having worked with RESTful API, I was curious to understand what GraphQL brings to the table. Additionally, I have been wanting to work with React for quite some time and this project provided me the opportunity to do just that. Although I didn't use Redux for this project, I understood how using Redux could have been benefecial.
